What a week! Andy left last Monday for Alabama and doing it on my own this time is very different. The babies are into everything and crawling all over the place which makes for one exhausted mommy. The evenings are the worst when the babies start to get fussy and tired and I have to do bathtime by myself. It took a few tries but I think I have worked out a system.
Andy is working hard at his training and he is a class leader (Andy being a leader? Imagine that!). This means he has extra duties on top of homework and regular duties.
Thankfully my mouth is feeling much better and I can eat real food again. Thanks for all the well wishes with my teeth and braces issues.
We got some of the bad weather and at 1:30am Wed morning the alarm started blaring over the loudspeaker outside our house and we were told to seek shelter immediately. Not exactly a good way to be woken up in the middle of the night. I got up and checked the weather online and watched the weather radar. It was a stressful night. I was worried that I would have to wake the babies up and take them in my tiny bathroom and they would never get back to sleep and I was also worried the alarms would wake them or the storms. The tornado didn't hit on base and they slept through it all thank goodness. However, Joey and I did not. It was a rough night for us! We had alarms off and on for a couple of hours and the next day the babies didn't feel a bit sorry for me. I really wanted them to take a good long nap so I could too but they weren't cooperating. I just had to suck it up and go on with our normal day. Of course while Andy was here this weekend, they took great naps.
This week Evan has decided to be an overachiever and I think he has 4 teeth coming in at the same time. The 1 on top and bottom are poking out and now the two teeth beside those are working their way out too. He thinks teething 1 at a time is for babies I guess. Today he discovered grinding his teeth. They are even in yet and he is grinding them. It is a horrible sound and I can barely stand it.
Avery's two top teeth are starting to show a bit too. What fun to have two babies teething! :-p She has been a good girl (besides being mischievous) all week and would play on her own. She is pulling up on everything so I have to constantly watch what I put on the table. She is very curious. She has also been "talking" this week. She tries to repeat things I say now and it is so cute. Just tonight at dinner I was saying something about applesauce and she tried to say apple then she was trying to say drink. She finished before Evan and was crawling around saying drink. She likes to try to say Joey all the time now too.
Every evening this past week Evan would get whiny and fuss alot. It started around the time Andy would normally get home so I think he really missed his daddy. Andy came home Friday night and stayed until this afternoon. The babies didn't get to see him until Saturday morning and they were so excited, especially Evan. Avery was a little surprised when she woke up from naps and he was still here yesterday. I am sure this evening and next week will be confusing for them. There isn't a way to explain it to them so I feel bad for them.
This weekend the weather has been wonderful. It has been in the upper 60s and sunny. We went and played on the playground yesterday and Avery & Evan loved the swings. We took pics but they won't be on Flickr until next week.
So we have 1 week of being on our own down and 5 more to go........
