I've gotten behind again. 35 weeks pregnant was a little crazy. I ended up in labor & delivery late Thursday night and again Sunday morning for contractions. They slowed down the contractions Thursday night with a shot of terbutaline. If you've had it, you understand how miserable it can be. If you haven't, I don't wish that on you. I felt horrible for a couple days afterward. I still feel pretty rotten but it isn't from the shot now. I'm basically on bedrest trying to keep the contractions controlled. Sunday they pretty much said they won't stop labor now so I'm doing what I can at home (laying down and staying hydrated). I was told by nurses and doctors to rest as much as possible. They never said official bedrest but getting more than a vague suggestion from them would be a miracle. The only way I can find to slow down the contractions is completely laying down as much as possible.
I'm about 2cm and 80% effaced right now (for those interested in a cervix update). The dilation doesn't seem to be as much of a concern as the effacement. I'm around 36 weeks now so things are looking good. The short term goal is to make it to 37 weeks but I'd like to go longer if possible. Boys don't mature as quickly as girls (from the get go apparently) so baby boy, yet to be named, will do much better the longer he stays baking. When I saw my ob for my now weekly appointments nothing had changed. I see him again next Tuesday.
On top of the lovely, round the clock contractions, I have a cold. Sneezing and coughing during a contraction is not the most pleasant feeling. I've been running a humidifier so I can breathe (as if breathing while hugely pregnant wasn't difficult enough). So Andy is on duty. He's been flying this week so I manage to get the kids to school and pick them up but otherwise I am in bed. I'm sure he's getting tired of bedrest. I know A&E are tired of it. At least one of them ask me every day when this baby will be born. The only one loving bedrest is Joey. It's his idea of paradise for us to lay in bed all day. I will admit the break was nice for a day or two. Almost a week later and I am bored and feeling useless.
The good news is baby boy has a place to sleep and a carseat to come home in when he does arrive. Now we just wait out this last week (or hopefully more).
Still getting bigger at 35+ weeks
