My friend Cindy tagged me in her blog so I have to tell everyone about my top 10 biggest Pet Peeves. They are in no particular order. This shouldn't be too hard so here we go!
1. People not returning their carts at stores. I have 21 month old twins and I am still able to return my cart to a cart corral or the store. It is just the responsible thing to do people!
2. Smokers! I cannot stand it when people smoke around their children, at the entrances to public places, and/or in restaurants. If you want cancer fine, but don't be giving it to your kids or to mine! Also we can all smell it on you so quit thinking you don't stink!
3. People who drive 5 UNDER the speed limit. We don't have this issue as much here in TX as we did in MS but come on. I obviously have somewhere to go if I am driving since no one can afford joyrides anymore.
4. Unresponsible pet owners. Please pick up after your pet and keep it on a leash no matter how friendly you think it is. Animals can be unpredictable!
5. Toilet paper going under. Toilet paper rolls should always go over the top and not under. I seriously want to change it at other people's houses. I have no idea why it bothers me so much.
6. People who use a lot of words but say nothing. I need it to be clear and concise people. Time is of the essence.
7. Things not running efficiently. There is always a faster, more efficient way of doing things. You just have to find it! This probably is along the same lines as #6.
8. Rude people. If I am pushing a double stroller, the door isn't automatic, and you are 1 foot in front of me, please hold the door open for me.
9. Unsolicited advice. Yes weird lady that works at the grocery store I have in fact tried to put a band-aid on my son's forehead for that sore he has picked at for 2 1/2 months. Neosporin? Well you are a genius! Are you sure you aren't an M.D. disguised in a HEB uniform?
10. People who ask questions but don't listen to your response. If you take the time to ask me a question and use up oxygen, at least listen to my response! If you don't really want to know then just don't ask!
Okay I am really not as evil as this makes me sound. I just have pet peeves like any normal person. ;-) I am going to tag Kristi, Sarah, Beth, Jessica, and Jen to try it next! Let it out ladies!

Very special post
I am a member of a multiples board for moms of multiples. It has been so helpful to me since I don't know very many moms in real life that have twins (or more!). A member of the board found out last week that her 5 month old twin girls have Werdnig-Hoffman disease.

I cannot imagine receiving such devastating news. Both girls have the disease and the prognosis is not good. Now the parents are taking it one day at a time and trying to enjoy what time they have left with both girls.
Our board decided to start a fund to help the family so they can take time off work and do what they need to do to spend as much time with their daughters as possible. I added a link to the top of our blog if you would like to contribute to the fund. I know the economy isn't so hot but if you can donate anything, I am sure it would help. I have never done anything like this before but their story has really been weighing on my heart and mind.
We are so blessed that A&E are healthy and stories like this help me appreciate it even more. I can't begin to imagine what these parents must be feeling and going through right now. No one deserves to have to go through something like this so please help make it a bit easier on them (financially) if you are able.

Bubbles
AKA Buh-buhs are a big hit in this house. If A or E even see a bottle of them they start yelling for them. I found some bubbles that are no-spill that they could use to blow their own (mommy gets lightheaded after so much bubble blowing!). Evan does okay if he doesn't stick the wand to his lips but Avery just sticks the wand in her mouth. They were so excited to try them out!

Strange Storytime and more
We have been going to library storytimes at a couple different libraries. We had fun on Monday at the main library. The lady was nice and interacted with the kids. A&E were a little rowdy and kept wandering over to the kid computer center and the lady would try to rush through and keep their attention, but they are toddlers and can't stay still for long. She was still lightyears beyond the lady last week.
Last week we went to the library closest to our house for storytime and it was quite the experience. There were quite a few kids there but the mommies didn't seem very friendly. The storytime lady was strange (that is the nicest word I can think of to describe her). She never interacted with any of the kids and never really looked at them. It was just odd. She chose stories that were way beyond toddler comprehension and during songs would stare straight ahead. I started to wonder if she was doing some work program to make up for eating small children or something and she couldn't look at them for fear of attacking one. At one point Avery was up dancing right beside her and she never seemed to notice. Avery enjoyed the songs and Evan enjoyed running around the bookshelves. I think we will stick to storytime on Mondays so A&E don't get eaten or anything!
No luck so far on Mother's Day Out programs. Woe is me. I need a break from these teething toddlers! Evan is still working on those 6 teeth and seems to whine more each day. The only thing that makes them happy is being out of the house doing something or watching t.v. which I limit. I had reached my breaking point by the time Andy got home for dinner yesterday so he took A&E (plus Joey) for a long walk after dinner. It was nice just to be in the quiet house by myself for 30 minutes. (Thanks Andy!)
It is chilly here today so probably no playground for us. We will have to do some window shopping or visit Petsmart to get out of the house! Hopefully they will nap longer than an hour today and be in better moods!

Random stuff
A&E are pretty funny now. They like to chase each other around and laugh (oh and squeal too of course)! They also like to try to make us laugh now too. Avery still loves her accessories and we are accumulating quite a collection of hats in the playroom.

Up and running again!
Sorry it has been a while since I posted, but Andy was working on our desktop (where I keep all our pics). We have been staying busy since then and I am behind on the blogging.
We are on the search for a great Mother's Day Out program here for A&E so I can get a break to do appointments and run errands (and maybe clean house without 4 "helping hands"). To my disappointment, I haven't had much luck. I have visited 2 programs and the one I liked better is just too pricey for a couple days a week. The others are full or don't take kids until they are 2 (3 months away from now!). I just want 1 day (or morning even) a week to get a break for me and socialization with other kids for them. I still have hope for 1 program that I want to visit this week. It is my last hope actually so keep your fingers crossed!
Andy officially started class on Friday so he is back to studying and working longer days. To keep A&E busy and out of trouble we have been visiting playgrounds and trying out free storytime at the local libraries! Oh and shopping of course to keep me busy ..... :-)

Aquarium
Yesterday was dollar day at the aquarium here and Andy was off work so we spent the morning checking it out! It was pretty crowded so A&E had to ride in their strollers but we let them get out to play at the playground there. They loved all the fish and sea creatures!
The stingrays kept coming over to Avery (I think she is Dr Doolittle!)

Such toddlers (aka big kids) now
A&E are becoming more and more like big kids which is very bittersweet for me. They are becoming very independent and go from wanting me to do everything to wanting to do it all themselves. Of course I want them to do things for themselves but sometimes I miss my "babies".
Brushing their teeth (they absolutely love standing at the sink to do this and to wash their own hands!)
Evan was sitting on the bottom step because they aren't allowed to get up there together.
Evan putting away dirty clothes (this little thing in the bathroom is the best invention! We put a basket in the big cabinet and it has this little part that you can open and throw the clothes in which A&E LOVE!)

Just a January day in Texas
I love the weather here. I hear all our friends and family talking about the horrible weather and I admit that I giggle a little bit to myself. It was 75 today and sunny. A gorgeous January day (that I could get used to). I think the forecast for tomorrow is in the 80s (not to brag). I am just happy that the Air Force got it right about sending me somewhere nice and warm (I despise cold weather and snow). Let's just hope I am singing the same tune during hurricane season......
So we took advantage of this awesome day and took A&E to the playground after naptime. We didn't realize this playground was for older kids but we made the best of it!

Some quick updates
Andy left this morning for water survival training and will be back on Friday.
We discovered Evan has 6 new teeth coming in (this explains alot about the past few weeks)!
Avery was awake at 10:45 pm tonight crying and I think she is also getting more teeth!
Petsmart is our new favorite free activity (I think Avery could stay there all day!).
We had satellite installed today (yay for having tv again!).
A&E have been behaving so much better now that we are back to a routine!
We have been so crazy busy getting settled in and unpacking then getting ready for Andy to leave again that we haven't kept up with returning calls and e-mails...sorry about that!
I hope to have some pics of our new house to post soon!

New house
We moved into our new house on Thursday. We had the cable company come set up our internet and the movers came. Each time we move, it always amazes me how much stuff we actually have. It is crazy!
We all love our new house! It is more room than we have ever had. We have 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a study. We also have a laundry room and 2 car garage. We are 10 minutes from base and all the stores and restaurants! The weather here is amazing. It has been in the 70s and 80s most days. Today it was in the upper 50s and people had on winter coats. That must be cold for them! I told Andy I may never want to leave! I love the climate, shopping, and restaurants plus having a house I adore..... deadly combo! I will say though that the people aren't as friendly as they were in Columbus. Our neighbors seem pretty friendly but when we are out and about it is more like Virginia.
