Evan is gangsta
Evan wore a button up shirt yesterday and after we got home from a birthday party, he unbuttoned the top few buttons. He pulled his shirt apart and declared himself "gangsta". After I got out of the floor from laughing, I asked where he learned that. He told me Mrs. Warren, his preK teacher. I have to remember to tell her about it and ask what she is teaching these kids! ;)
Disclaimer: He did admit later Mrs. Warren has never said "gangsta" and we use that word so the above is very tongue in cheek.

First Field Trip
A&E had their very first field trip on Friday! It was also their first time being on a bus. They were so excited. They've been discussing community helpers so they went to a local grocery store (to visit the florist, produce section, and bakery) then to the fire station. We stopped at a park for a picnic on the way back to school. I of course had to go with them to capture all this on film. :)

Breakfast before we go

Ready to get on the bus for the first time!

Excited to be on the bus

Visiting the florist
The kids each got a flower to break off the stem and place in a water tube. Then they were given a tag to write their name on. A&E were a couple of the few who could write their name without help.

Checking out the produce section and talking about fruits and vegetables

At the bakery talking about making cupcakes. They decorated their own!

Eating their masterpieces of processed sugar...

With one of their best friends, Jackson

At the fire station learning about firemen

They got to climb in the firetruck and sit

It went downhill after they all started to crash from the sugar. Avery threw a fit about not standing where she wanted and was just difficult overall. She was fine once she had lunch but this was before....

I think I had a field trip hangover afterward. I had such a headache. I will say that field trips as a parent are a million times easier than as the teacher. We were with the other preK classes from their school so there were around 55-60 4 year olds on this trip. I would not want to be the one organizing that!
Next month we will visit the pumpkin patch!

My little sweethearts
I had to post about a few cute things that I always seem to forget by the next day!
I went on a field trip today with A&E. As we were getting off the bus, Evan went down before me and held up his hand to help me down. Talk about a mommy's heart melting!!!
Andy coached the kids' soccer practice tonight. On the way, Avery told him he is good at soccer. She's so encouraging! :)
We went out to eat after practice tonight and Avery asked if I was cold. When I said yes, she said then come here and cuddled up and rubbed my arms.

It's football time in...
our house. By that I mean, futbol and football. A&E are playing soccer and Andy is on a flag football team at the base. We've been pretty busy.
Here are some pics from A&E's game on Saturday. They both scored all the goals for their team. Go Yellow Jackets! :)

Their FIRST Soccer Game
I was pretty sad that Andy had to miss A&E's first soccer game. Story of our lives with the AF. He had talked to them about it yesterday and they were excited to play.
They got their uniforms yesterday and the team decided they would be the Yellow Jackets. They are on a U5 team that plays with 3 players on the field and no goalies.
A&E ready to go!

I'm the team mom (thanks for volunteering me, E) so I brought snacks today. It was quite a handful getting both kids and all the snack stuff to our field with the crazy parking. Seriously this soccer field is nuts on a Saturday morning.
So we make it to our field and they go warm up

A&E were starters

Evan did the first corner kick

He also scored the first (of many) goals!

Here's the dynamic duo

Avery did a corner kick

Goooooaaaalll (this probably should have been A's but E was a bit overzealous)

Evan getting pointers from the coach

Hustle

Avery in action

Avery's goal

love the determination on Evan's face

(another) Goooooaaaalllll (I lost count but Evan says he scored 7)

Evan vs his biggest competition

Avery needed a break (it was pretty hot out there wearing black)

Evan was so mad when the other kid scored on him

During one of his breaks, we discussed working as a team so here is Evan's assist at a goal

Good game

I have to admit that I got pretty into it. I haven't been competitive as a mom before but today I was yelling and clapping like mad. I totally get why stage/sports moms get so into stuff now. It was amazing seeing them do so well. Their team won (definitely due to Evan) and they played so hard even when they were hot and tired. I was very proud of them! I'm going to try to not become "that mom".
